Stefanchuk's reaction to the possible ban of Telegram in Ukraine

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his opinion on the possible ban of the popular messenger Telegram in Ukraine. He emphasized that such a decision must be politically justified.

In response to a question about the possible ban of Telegram in Ukraine, Stefanchuk said: 'If it is technically possible and makes sense from a political point of view, then it should be done.'

According to the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, any decisions regarding technological aspects must be carefully considered. It is known that Telegram already blocks a significant part of Russian content, even through the use of VPNs.

'If the closure of Telegram is decided solely for PR purposes, it will be an unjustified decision,' Stefanchuk emphasized. He noted that all state decisions should be made to ensure the country's cybersecurity.

Additionally, we previously reported on how to protect yourself from fraudsters who use artificial bots in Telegram for money scams. We also explained what servers the Telegram messenger uses and how it is connected to Russian special services.

In light of the criticism regarding the potential ban of Telegram in Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada called for a reasonable approach and justification of the decision from both political and technical perspectives, as well as emphasized the importance of ensuring the state's information security.
