Ukraine has adopted a law that prohibits publicly linking a lawyer with a client. If this is violated, expect a fine of up to 6,800 UAH. The bill has already received support from the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading.Fines for violations of the restrictions range from 3,400 to 13,600 UAH. Disseminating information about the connection between a lawyer and a client through the media or other channels will also be punished. The bill aims to protect the rights of lawyers and guarantee their professional activities. However, some experts believe that this may restrict freedom of speech and lead to censorship. The bill has sparked some controversy among politicians and the public. Additionally, the methodology for calculating fines may change by 2026.
