Bloomberg: Putin demands full control over 4 regions of Ukraine, undermining Trump’s efforts.


The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, urged Russia to ceasefire for an extended period. During the latest talks with U.S. Ambassador Steve Witkoff in the Kremlin, there was an unsuccessful discussion on a ceasefire along the current front line. Vladimir Putin demands control over partially occupied parts of Ukraine as part of any future agreement. This demand could threaten U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to achieve a truce. President Zelensky supported the demand for a ceasefire within 30 days and called for direct communication between Putin and Trump.
Now they stand at the threshold of what decision the U.S. will make regarding participation in the negotiations. Russia has announced a three-day ceasefire to commemorate the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. However, Zelensky denies the need to wait until May 8 and accuses Russia of manipulation. The U.S. expressed disappointment and indicated that they may withdraw from negotiations if an agreement is not reached soon.
