How Much is 1 kg of Buckwheat
In supermarkets, you can find different types of buckwheat, but we decided to find out about the price of traditional Ukrainian grain.
In July 2025, the price for 1 kg of buckwheat in the Auchan supermarket starts from 29.90 UAH.
In other Kyiv stores, the prices for buckwheat are as follows:
- Silpo — from 29.99 UAH/kg;
- Metro — from 31.30 UAH/kg;
- Novus — from 31.99 UAH/kg.
The highest price for buckwheat was at 'MegaMarket' — from 43.20 UAH per kilogram.
Will Buckwheat Prices Rise?
The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine assures that there are currently no reasons for an increase in buckwheat prices.
'If I say a forecast, it would be incorrect, because I have to talk about the objective. We do not see any objective factors that would lead to a drastic change in price. That is, there is no shortage of components that would affect the fact that buckwheat should be expensive'
The minister explained that the price of buckwheat can fluctuate from year to year due to difficulties in its cultivation. There are also reserves in Ukraine that allow for the export of buckwheat, so there is no reason for concern about price increases.
Buckwheat remains a popular product among Ukrainians, and there are no forecasts for a sharp increase in prices, as the market is stable and has a sufficient quantity of grain to meet demand.
