Ukrainian citizens who receive a pension for length of service can switch to an old-age pension upon reaching the required age. This is established in the law on mandatory state pension insurance.According to this law, individuals who are entitled to several types of pensions can receive only one type of pension of their choice. Thus, Ukrainians with a length of service pension, after reaching retirement age, can switch to an old-age pension. At the same Time, if a retiree who continued working has accumulated enough experience for recalculation of the old-age pension, their pension will be recalculated. The transition to another type of pension is possible from the moment of submission of all necessary documents to the Pension Fund.If a person did not work after receiving the length of service pension, the amount of the old-age pension will remain the same, but only its type will change. However, if a person worked after retirement, the new experience and income may be considered when switching to an old-age pension to increase the amount of the pension payment. To recalculate, one should contact the Pension Fund via the e-services portal or in person at a service center. This news explains the rules for transitioning from a length of service pension to an old-age pension and the procedure for recalculating pension payments. It provides Ukrainians with useful information regarding the receipt of different types of pensions and the conditions for changing pension status.
