Expert Oleg Popenko stated that electricity tariffs for Ukrainians may rise by more than 50% by 2025, despite the Ministry of Energy's denials. According to him, the cost of electricity will increase to the level of 6.32-6.64 hryvnias per kilowatt, compared to the current 4.32 hryvnias. Popenko emphasized that only political processes can stop this increase.
“Neither the NERC, nor the Ministry of Energy, nor Energoatom has any calculations that would confirm the cost of electricity. No one can explain why we are currently paying exactly 4.32 hryvnias,” Popenko stressed.
He also noted that the increase in electricity tariffs is only one part of the overall rise in utility payments. In 2024, the total amount of utility payments increased by 20% due to the rising cost of electricity and the maintenance of multi-apartment buildings.
