Merz: EU leaders are tired of Scholz.

Opposition bloc CDU/CSU candidate for chancellor Friedrich Merz accused Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz of blatantly ignoring European policy. He criticizes the German government for its absence at important diplomatic events, including the visit of the French president to Poland, where issues regarding Ukraine's policy were discussed.
A noticeable failure of Germany's EU policy
Merz also expressed his concern about the 'total failure' of the current government's European policy. According to him, Germany is demonstrating indifference to European processes, which negatively affects the country's reputation and relations with neighboring EU countries.
Merz pointed out examples of the German chancellor's diplomatic passivity when Macron met with the elected President of the USA and the President of Ukraine before the official opening of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, while the German chancellor did not attend the event, although he was invited.
Merz was particularly critical of Germany's involvement in European legislative processes, mentioning the 'German Vote' in Brussels, where Germany systematically abstains from voting. Some government members, including the Minister of Economics, do not even participate in such meetings.
In the last three years, the German government has not put forward any initiatives in areas such as migration or economic policy that could have been discussed in Brussels.
