Municipal nanny: which categories of children the service applies to.

The 'municipal nanny' service has become available for a larger number of children
As of early March 2025, 2017 families have received the 'municipal nanny' service. According to the Ministry of Social Policy, 2433 children are under the supervision of a nanny so that parents or caregivers can work, retrain, or solve their issues.
The average monthly reimbursement for the 'municipal nanny' service is approximately 8 thousand hryvnias.
It is worth noting that last year the Ministry of Social Policy expanded the category of children who can benefit from this service. It now applies to the following groups:
- children under 3 years of internally displaced persons (who do not have serious illnesses);
- children under 6 years old who require additional care (previously included only children with serious illnesses up to 3 years old);
- children under 6 years old whose one parent is a person with a disability of group I or II (previously this applied to children up to 3 years old);
- children under 6 years old living in areas where it is impossible to ensure the functioning of preschool institutions (for example, in the Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions).
This is an important change as now internally displaced persons and those living in areas without access to preschool institutions have the right to the 'municipal nanny' service. This helps to remove barriers to parents' access to work and economic independence, and for children - to receive proper care and development.
