Samsung factory workers were exposed to radiation: what's in store for the company.

The Nuclear Safety Commission of South Korea has issued a fine of 10.5 million won ($7.9 thousand) to punish Samsung Electronics for violating radiation safety rules, which resulted in several factory workers being exposed to radiation. The company itself could also be deprived of money due to two more violations.
In May, two workers at the Samsung factory in Giheung, 40 km from Seoul, were exposed to radiation (significantly higher than the annual norm) during maintenance of equipment for analyzing silicon wafers. Both were hospitalized. The safety device, which is supposed to switch off radiation when the doors are opened, failed due to negligence of the team.
Samsung representatives stated that they will cooperate with researchers and provide assistance to those affected by the incident. They also emphasized introducing measures that would prevent similar cases in the future.
Workers strike at another factory
Earlier, it was announced that a large-scale strike occurred at the main Samsung Electronics factory in India, causing production to be suspended. This factory provides 20-30% of the company's annual income and has significant impact on its success. Union protocols allow approximately 1,800 workers to demand their rights, and their actions led to significant losses for the enterprise.
Previously, it was recorded that about 6,500 Samsung employees joined a 3-day strike, raising demands for respect for labor and improvement of working conditions. This was the first strike in the company's history, and it was carried out properly.
It should be noted that Samsung Electronics' profit in the second quarter increased by 22-25%, as expected. In the first quarter, the growth was 13%. However, these good results were not reflected in the company's stock value.
