Turkey Begins New Phase in Trade with Syria
The Turkish Ministry of Trade has announced new rules in bilateral trade cooperation with Syria. From this day forward, restrictions on exports to Syria, imports from Syria, and transit through the customs territory of Turkey have been lifted.
According to the announcement, the new phase in economic and trade relations between Turkey and Syria continues in accordance with the agreement reached with Syria for the liberation of the Syrian people. The Turkish government adheres to a plan established to ensure the gradual restoration of cooperation.
The countries will adhere to the same conditions for the supply of goods within the framework of exports and imports. The document also states that the restrictions on exports to Syria and transit through Turkish customs have been lifted. As for the transit of other goods to third countries via Turkey, except for 'scrap metal', they are now considered free. The import procedures from Syria have also been normalized.
The same conditions apply to goods imported from Syria as those for third countries regarding import rules, product safety control, and customs duties.
