The Ocean Will Become a Battery: Germany Creates Underwater Storage.

German Scientists Propose Storing Energy on the Ocean Floor
German scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute have developed a new solution for storing renewable energy - giant concrete spheres submerged on the ocean floor. This technology allows for the conversion of seawater into electricity using turbines.
Each sphere, with a diameter of about 9 meters and weighing 400 tons, is located at a depth of 600-800 meters. Water is used to rotate the turbine inside the sphere, generating electricity. The technology has been successfully tested in Lake Constance and plans are underway to deploy a full-scale prototype in California.
Each sphere is capable of producing 0.5 megawatts of energy and storing 0.4 megawatt-hours - enough to power an average American home for two weeks. Scientists are considering the possibility of increasing the size of the spheres and their large-scale application.
Calls for a review of price caps to avoid an energy crisis in Ukraine are being considered by energy program experts from the Razumkov Center.
