Arson of a Church in Transcarpathia — Police Detained Suspect.


In the village of Palad-Komarivtsi in the Transcarpathian region, an unknown person set fire to a church on July 16. The police and the SBU have detained a suspect in the crime.
The National Police press service reported this on Friday, July 18.
The detained individual is a 28-year-old resident of Transcarpathia, involved in the arson of the Greek Catholic church in Palad-Komarivtsi. He left a provocative inscription on the facade to sow distrust and interethnic and religious enmity.
During a special operation, the police obtained information regarding the detained individual's involvement in the crime. Law enforcement is currently examining the motives behind his actions. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
As a result, only ruins remain from the top of the church, but thanks to the prompt actions of law enforcement, the suspect in the arson has been detained and the circumstances of the crime have been clarified.
