North Korea officially confirmed participation in the war on the side of Russia for the first time.

The Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea confirmed the participation of troops from the DPRK in combat actions against Ukrainian defense forces on the territory of the Kursk region in Russia. This information was provided in a special statement by the ruling party organ.
According to reports from KCNA, the decision to send troops to the war in Russia was made based on the mutual defense treaty between the DPRK and Russia. The North Korean leadership viewed this situation as understandable in accordance with the terms of the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty.
The statement notes that the military from the DPRK participated in combat actions only on the territory of Russia. Under the provisions of the UN and other international treaties, this complies with the concluded agreements.
Exact information about the composition, number, and losses of the military contingent from the DPRK is not detailed in the report. However, the statement noted that a monument will be established in Pyongyang in honor of the North Korean soldiers for their combat achievements on the territory of Russia.
