Will pigs pose a threat to humans? A dangerous virus is raging in Europe.

Bird flu H5N1 could become a threat to pigs in Europe
The Executive Director of the European Food Safety Authority warned that if bird flu H5N1 breaks out in the European pig population, it could become a dangerous situation. He noted that the virus could be transmitted from pigs to humans, posing the risk of a new pandemic.
The number of pigs in Europe is nearly twice that of the US, and this figure is even higher in China. European authorities are taking measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including closing farms and monitoring strains carried by migratory birds.
The URL emphasized that the H5N1 situation in Europe is relatively well-controlled, but the continent must remain in a state of heightened readiness due to the risk of virus transmission to pigs. Scientists believe that pigs pose a particular risk as they can carry pathogens from both birds and humans.
Apart from bird flu, there are several other dangerous diseases in Europe, such as African swine fever, bluetongue, and foot-and-mouth disease. The latest outbreak occurred in January in Germany, also affecting Hungary and Slovakia, leading to partial border closures between the countries.
Therefore, special attention must be given to controlling the spread of viruses among animals and preventing potential pandemics.
