Electricity tariffs up to 4.32 hryvnias: what the Energyatom audit revealed.

No savings: 'Energoatom' receives 49 billion annually from the electricity tariff
According to the report of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada, 'Energoatom' can currently earn 49 billion hryvnias annually due to the current electricity tariff. This information was disclosed by 'Interfax-Ukraine'.
“The effect of the increase in electricity prices in 2023-2024 amounting to 88 billion UAH was directly received by NAEC 'Energoatom' (78 billion UAH) and PrJSC 'Ukrhydroenergo' (10 billion UAH), without any justification or plan for further use of the funds by 'Energoatom'”
According to the report, the current electricity tariff for the population of 4.32 UAH/kWh allows 'Energoatom' to receive undistributed profits and depreciation of 0.99 UAH/kWh, which totals approximately 49 billion hryvnias per year.
Electricity prices correspond to an economically justified level
The report also emphasizes that the prices for electricity set by the Cabinet of Ministers for households as of May 2024 correspond to an economically justified level.
One of the conclusions of the report highlights that the price level for residential consumers of electricity cannot account for the market level due to the dominant position of 'Energoatom' and 'Ukrhydroenergo' in the market, which affects competition.
After reviewing the report, the TSK of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took it into account, continuing cooperation with the commission on energy tariffs.
