A coach from Russia claims that Ukrainian gymnasts communicate with Russians.

The Russian national gymnastics team reported that Ukrainian gymnasts communicate with their athletes. This information was conveyed by 'Glavkom'. Coach Valentina Rodionenko responded to the statement of Olympic champion in gymnastics Oleg Vernyayev.
The Olympic champion noted that among Ukrainian gymnasts there are those who support Russians and advocate for their participation in international competitions.
Valentina Rodionenko confirmed that some Ukrainian athletes have a positive attitude towards Russia. She said that there are gymnasts who either do not pay attention or have a negative attitude towards this issue. The coach also noted that although communication between Ukrainian and Russian gymnasts is limited due to the situation, it does not mean that they are against Russia.
Nazar Chepurniy – bronze medalist of Euro-2025 in artistic gymnastics
Ukrainian gymnast Nazar Chepurniy won a bronze medal in the jumps at the European Gymnastics Championship. In the final, he showed the third result in qualification, scoring 14.466 points. This is already the third final for Chepurniy at these competitions, having finished in 14th place in the previous two disciplines and remaining without a medal in the floor exercise.
Final results in jumps
- Arthur Davtyan (Armenia) – 14.799 points
- Jake German (Great Britain) – 14.733 points
- Nazar Chepurniy (Ukraine) – 14.583 points
Ukrainian and Russian gymnasts are limited in communication due to the situation, but this does not prevent some athletes from mutually respecting and supporting each other.
The information confirmed by coach Rodionenko about the communication of Ukrainian gymnasts with their Russian colleagues indicates a certain sports tolerance that remains beyond the political situation between the countries. Nazar Chepurniy's good result at the championship allows athletes to prove that, on the contrary, cooperation and mutual support can be successful in sports.Read also
