In Romania, pro-Russian presidential candidate Georgescu was arrested: mass searches are taking place.

The Romanian Prosecutor's Office is conducting searches in five county districts of the country. Pro-Russian presidential candidate Kelvin Georgescu has been arrested.
The searches are part of a case in which Georgescu is accused of crimes against the constitution, false information about the sources of financing his election campaign, and public incitement to crime. Law enforcement is acting under a warrant from a group close to Horatiu Potra, a former presidential candidate, Kelvin Georgescu.
As reported by the News.ro agency, citing judicial sources, Georgescu was arrested by the police and is currently being interrogated by the prosecutor's office. This information has also been confirmed by the Romanian service of Radio Liberty. They added that the politician was arrested for violating traffic rules.
The prosecutor's statement indicates that searches are being carried out in the counties of Sibiu, Mureș, Timiș, Ilfov, and Cluj. The targets of the searches have included 27 individuals and four offices owned by legal entities.
According to reports, Horatiu Potra is a former leader of Romanian mercenaries who fought in Africa.
Kelvin Georgescu accused the authorities on his Facebook of trying to fabricate evidence to justify election theft and block his participation in the presidential elections.
It is also reported that the searches are conducted in the context of an investigation into the financing of Georgescu's election campaign. He declared zero expenses, but the campaign, during which he won the first round, indicates significant expenditures for his promotion.
The Romanian Constitutional Court's decision to cancel the elections was made after the declassification of documents by the special services, indicating the benefit Georgescu received from TikTok support through algorithm manipulation.
Remember that the Romanian Prosecutor's Office announced an investigation into the public release of this information by the special services in December 2024, and the details of the investigation became known after searches on February 26.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the scandalous statements made by the Romanian Georgescu regarding the division of Ukraine.
