Ukrainian weightlifters amazed the world
The Ukrainian national team in weightlifting demonstrated impressive results at the World Youth Championship in Peru. The competition, which took place from April 30 to May 5, featured 9 Ukrainian athletes. They won 10 awards: 1 gold and 3 bronzes in the total lift.
- Gold was won by Serhiy Kotelevskyi (total lift, snatch, clean and jerk) in the U17 category, up to 81 kg.
- Two medals for Kateryna Malashchuk (silver and bronze) in the U17 category, up to 45 kg.
- Two medals for Volodymyr Chmikh (silver and bronze) in the U17 category, over 102 kg.
- Two bronze awards for Andrii Borovskyi and silver for Hanna Kalashnyk in the U20 age category.
It should be noted that
Serhiy Kotelevskyi discovered absolute gold in the total lift, becoming the world champion among youths (U17). His impressive result in the snatch and clean and jerk was 314 kg.
