The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on changing the names of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine. This is stated in the resolution No. 1028.The government decided to rename:- The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine;- The Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure of Ukraine to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine. As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada approved the appointment of Mykola Tochytskyi as the new Minister of Culture - former deputy head of the President's Office and diplomat. His appointment was supported by 252 MPs.It is worth mentioning that in July last year, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Oleksandr Tkachenko from the post of Minister of Culture and Information Policy. His tenure was accompanied by scandals in the cultural sphere. From the beginning of July 2023 until Tochytskyi's appointment, Rostyslav Karandeev was the acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy.Rostyslav Karandeev, the former Minister of Culture, summed up his work in the position, said goodbye, and removed the ministry's sign. The ex-official detail indicating the ministry's name was changed. It is recalled that in 2020 the department received the name "Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine" to reflect the new role of the ministry in the context of modern information warfare and propaganda. In addition to its traditional role in culture, the ministry became responsible for the state's information policy, including protection from disinformation, development of government communication, and enhancement of information security. From 2024, the ministry will be called the "Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine." The new name was introduced to strengthen the fight against disinformation.
